Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q: What is FS Reality? FS Reality is a virtual aviation world that connects to your flight simulator. You create a pilot, fly real routes between real airports, earn virtual money, and build your career, all tracked automatically through a flight tracker.

Q: Is FS Reality a flight simulator? No. FS Reality works alongside your existing flight simulator. It adds a career layer on top of your sim flights: economy, assignments, aircraft ownership, and more.

Q: Is FS Reality free? Yes. FS Reality is completely free to use.

Q: What flight simulators are supported? FS Reality supports any simulator that works with FSUIPC on Windows: Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), MSFS 2024, FSX, and X-Plane.

Q: What is FSUIPC? FSUIPC is a third-party tool that connects your flight simulator to external applications. It’s required for the FS Reality flight tracker to communicate with your sim.

Q: What is the § symbol next to amounts? That’s the in-game currency symbol used throughout FS Reality.

Account & Setup

Q: How do I create an account? Click “Get Started” on the FS Reality website to create a public account with your email and password. Then set up your pilot profile with a display name and starting airport. Confirm your email, and you can log in.

Q: I didn’t get my confirmation email. What do I do? Check your spam or junk folder. The confirmation email must be clicked before you can log in.

Q: I forgot my password. How do I reset it? On the login page, click “Forgot Password.” Enter your email to receive a reset link. Click the link and set a new password.

Q: What is a starting location? The airport where your pilot begins. It determines what aircraft and assignments are immediately available to you. You can move to a different airport later using the transfer feature.

Ratings & Progression

Q: What are ratings? Ratings are pilot certifications that unlock different aircraft types. Without the right rating, you can’t rent or fly an aircraft of that type.

Q: What ratings are available?

RatingHow to Get It
Commercial SingleFree, every pilot starts with this
Commercial RotorFree to acquire
Commercial MultiPurchase with in-game currency
High PerformancePurchase with in-game currency

Q: How do I buy a rating? From your dashboard, look at the ratings section. Select a rating you don’t own, review the price, and confirm the purchase. The cost is deducted from your balance.

Q: Can I buy a rating I already have? No. Ratings you already own are filtered out.

Aircraft

Q: Can I fly any aircraft? Only if you have the required rating for that aircraft type.

Q: What does “airworthy” mean? An aircraft is airworthy when its inspections are current and it has no critical maintenance issues. Only airworthy aircraft can be rented and flown.

Q: Can I rent more than one aircraft at a time? No. You can only have one active rental at a time. Cancel your current rental before renting another.

Q: What’s the difference between wet and dry rentals? With a wet rental, the aircraft owner pays for fuel and the hourly rate is typically higher. With a dry rental, you pay for fuel at the pump and the hourly rate is usually lower.

Q: Can I sell an aircraft while someone is renting it? No. Aircraft that are actively reserved or in flight cannot be sold, transferred, or have their lease revoked.

Q: Why can’t I load profitable assignments? If your aircraft has an overdue 100-hour inspection or is past its engine overhaul limit, the system blocks profitable assignment loading. Get the maintenance done first.

Flights

Q: Can I fly more than one flight at a time? No. You can only have one active flight at a time.

Q: What happens when I complete a flight? The system lands your pilot at the destination, updates fuel and aircraft wear, completes your loaded assignments, pays your earnings, bills rental and fuel charges, ends the rental, and auto-parks the aircraft if you have a hangar at the destination.

Q: Can other pilots see me flying? Yes. The Map page shows live flights from all active pilots.

Q: What happens if my tracker disconnects mid-flight? You can resume your flight from the tracker. If a flight goes stale for too long without updates, the system may clean it up automatically.

Q: Can I cancel a flight? Yes. Use the active flight banner at the top of any page or cancel through the tracker. Cancelled flights don’t earn payouts, and your assignments are reset.

Loading Area

Q: Why does it say “location mismatch”? Your pilot and your rented aircraft are at different airports. You need to be at the same airport as your aircraft to fly. Use the transfer feature to move to your aircraft’s location.

Q: What does “on hold” mean for an assignment? A held assignment stays claimed to you but is excluded from loading on your next flight. It’s useful when you have more assignments than your aircraft can carry.

Banking & Economy

Q: How do I earn money? Complete flights with loaded assignments. You get paid based on the assignment value when the flight is finished.

Q: Can I send money to other pilots? Yes. Use the Banking page to search for a pilot and transfer funds.

Q: Why can’t I send money? New accounts must be at least 7 days old before they can send money from their personal account.

Q: What happens with transfers over §10,000? An extra confirmation step is required to prevent accidental large transfers.

Operators

Q: What is an operator? A team. Members share aircraft, hangars, and a bank account. Operators have roles (Owner, Admin, Member) with configurable permissions.

Q: How many operators can I join? Up to 3 at a time.

Q: Can I leave an operator? Yes, unless you have active flights or rentals tied to it. The owner cannot leave. They must delete the operator instead.

Q: Can an operator be deleted? Only the owner can delete it, and only if the operator has no aircraft.

Hangars

Q: How does hangar slot capacity work? Larger aircraft take up more hangar slots. Make sure the hangar has enough free slots before trying to park an aircraft.

Q: Does my aircraft get stored automatically after a flight? If you have an eligible hangar at the destination airport, yes. The system auto-parks on flight completion. It also auto-removes from the hangar when a flight starts.

Settings & API Keys

Q: What’s the difference between read-only and full-access API keys? Read-only keys can only fetch data (GET requests). Full-access keys can also perform actions on your behalf. The key secret is shown only once at creation, so copy it immediately.

Q: How do I revoke an API key? Go to Settings, find the key in your API Keys list, and click revoke. The key stops working immediately.
