How the World Works
FS Reality has several background systems that run automatically to keep the world alive and realistic. You don’t interact with these directly, but you’ll feel their effects.
Assignment Generation
The system continuously generates new assignments across the world. This keeps a fresh supply of jobs available at airports so there’s always something to fly.
Aircraft Generation
New aircraft are periodically added to the marketplace to keep the market stocked with options for buying and renting.
Weather Refresh
METAR (weather observation) and SIGMET (significant weather) data is regularly refreshed in the background. When you check weather at an airport, you’re seeing the most recently cached data.
Maintenance Generation
Aircraft can develop maintenance issues over time. The system generates these randomly to simulate realistic wear and tear. You’ll see new maintenance items appear on aircraft you own or operate.
Flight Completion Follow-Up
After a flight is completed, the system may:
- Generate new maintenance items based on the flight
- Automatically park the aircraft in an eligible hangar at the destination
Flight Cleanup
If a flight is in progress for too long without updates (for example, if a tracker disconnects and the pilot doesn’t return), the system will eventually clean up stale flights to prevent them from lingering indefinitely.
Current Flight Refresh
Active flight data is regularly updated to power the live flights view on the Map page and active-flight lookups across the app.
Hangar Billing
Hangar rentals have recurring costs. The billing system charges these on schedule. If an account doesn’t have sufficient funds, the system can automatically terminate the rental.
Assignment Search Sync
The advanced assignment search index is kept in sync so search results stay fresh and accurate.
